Our Mission
At University Baptist Church, where "UBU@UBC" echoes our inclusive spirit, we embody the transformative love of Jesus. We welcome everyone to join us in worship, celebrating the diversity within God's community.
Our mission is to create a sanctuary where every individual is valued and accepted. We strive to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly, reflecting the boundless love of our Creator. We also encourage interfaith understanding, building bridges between diverse faith traditions.
Guided by the teachings of the Gospels and rooted in historic Baptist principles, we embrace the separation of church and state, the autonomy of the local church, and the priesthood of believers.
As a Welcoming and Affirming Baptist congregation, we affirm the dignity of every individual. At UBC, "You Be You," and together, we journey toward a deeper connection with the divine and each other.
Our History
Founded in 2000, University Baptist Church has been a welcoming and inclusive community in Starkville, Mississippi, from the beginning. What started as a small group of believers has grown into a vibrant congregation known for its commitment to social justice, inclusivity, and interfaith dialogue.
Throughout our journey, we’ve been blessed with dedicated leaders and members who have helped us expand our outreach and deepen our community connections. Each milestone in our history reflects our unwavering commitment to living out the Gospel with love and compassion.
As we honor our past, we look forward to the future, continuing to be a dynamic and progressive force for good—grounded in our core values of love, inclusivity, and justice.
